Five great plans in the heights of Madrid
Proposals
Eating, drinking, listening to live music, or enjoying a movie session takes on a different meaning on these rooftops in Madrid, where you can indulge in an unforgettable summer experience
When the heat gets intense in the capital, we temporarily leave the pavement to seek refuge in the heights of small oases where we can cool off. Luckily, there are plenty of spaces suitable for escape: rooftops where you can enjoy delicious bites, cocktails, live music, and even movie sessions. Take note of these plans and get hooked on the rooftop mood.
Beach Club Diana: a beach bar close to heaven
In Saint-Tropez, Mykonos, Capri, Cannes, Barcelona, Ibiza, and now also in Madrid. The most exclusive beaches on the planet host a common place where leisure and sophistication come together during the summer months: the beach club. Madrid doesn't have a beach? Well, we invent one: in the heights, overlooking Gran Vía, where live music plays, cocktails flow, and delicious bites are served. This is the fantasy, now a reality, that the Hyatt Centric Gran Vía Madrid hotel (31 Gran Vía) has brought to life for the summer season on its tenth floor.
Diana's Garden, its iconic terrace, has been transformed into Beach Club Diana. Here's the thing: you press the button 10 in the elevator, the door opens and then... Surfboards, tropical vegetation, huge white and blue lifebuoys, straw mats on the floor, parasols (for the day), high tables and chairs on the sides, a wooden sofa reminiscent of a beach bar, string lights (for the night), and, wherever you look, light tones, Mediterranean colors, natural materials, and light textures.
In the background, chill out music (starting at 6 pm and hosted by the DJs from Ibiza BPM Radio) and, on the menu, refreshing cocktails and appetizing bites. Such as the Phoenix cocktail, a mix of cava, St. Germain, Belsazar Dry, orange blossom water, rose bitters, and soda; or the watermelon salad with feta cheese, Kalamata olives, watercress, and oregano (yes, you drink it!).
El Cielo de Chicote: Cocktail bar with tradition
Chicote finally has a rooftop with some of the best views of Madrid. The newly arrived Hotel Montera Madrid (47 Montera), the first Curio Collection by Hilton in the heart of the capital, boasts a rooftop terrace on a historic building located on the corner that connects Montera with Gran Vía. Next to the pool and the Balinese bed area, its top floor will soon be home to the hotel's cocktail bar, which is not just any bar.
El Cielo de Chicote is the result of an agreement signed with Museo Chicote, Spain's first cocktail bar with a history dating back to 1931. Its master mixologists will showcase their charms high above to present a fresh and cheeky menu, aiming to embody the truth behind the expression “From Madrid to Heaven.” Explore the different spaces of the rooftop and choose the best perspective of Madrid's skyline to accompany your afternoons, evenings, and celebrations with a menu of tapas and cocktails that will leave you anything but indifferent.
RT60: cocktail with 'smash burger'
Cocktails and burgers. With this foolproof combination, RT60, the rooftop of Hard Rock Hotel Madrid (17 Ronda de Atocha), wants to celebrate the arrival of summer. With its sofas, high tables, and stools; live music, 360º views, wonderful sunsets, and charismatic food trucks. This rooftop becomes an ideal space for a leisurely evening or afterwork gathering (open every day from 4 pm to 1 am) where you can sink your teeth into one of their four delicious smash burgers - among other options - with a vegetarian choice included (mushrooms, truffle, and vegan cheese) or enjoy signature cocktails inspired by the world of art, such as Venus was a woman, made with whisky, cherry liqueur, and orange foam, or Casino Royal, with sparkling wine, brown sugar, angostura, and grapefruit. And for those who prefer a non-alcoholic drink, the terrace offers a selection of mocktails, like the passion fruit syrup, pineapple, lime, and ginger beer mocktail, truly surprising!
Nota Alta: traditional music and sushi
The rooftop of the vibrant UMusic Hotel Madrid (11 La Paz) is a fantastic gastronomic and musical plan. Throughout the summer season, Nota Alta, located on the seventh floor, will feature a diverse lineup of artists, groups, and bands. It couldn't be any other way in this music-inspired hotel. But that's not all: their culinary proposal of cultural fusion under the concept of sushi castizo, a fusion of sushi and local tapas, and their craft cocktails will take summer enjoyment to the next level.
In their menu, they offer options such as the Ibérico Roll, with slices of Ibérico ham filled with herbed cheese and truffle mayonnaise; the Morcilla Roll, made with tramezzini bread, rice blood sausage, Philadelphia cheese, onion with grenadine, and sweet chili sauce; or the Squid in its Ink Roll, a light marinated rice roll with Andalusian-style baby squid and squid ink sauce with lime. These innovative dishes coexist with more traditional sushi, such as the California Roll, made with shrimp salad, avocado, and a soy and honey reduction, or the Spicy Tuna Roll, a marinated rice roll with avocado, cucumber, green apple, and spicy tuna tartare.
Emperador Hotel: Almodóvar, champagne, and popcorn
His 75 years of life are a powerful reason to celebrate, and his 800 m2 rooftop doesn't want to miss out on it. This already iconic space at the Emperador Hotel (43 Gran Vía) - free for guests and with a charge for other users - features its famous and renowned pool, sunbathing area, chill-out zone, Balinese beds, and snack bar, along with its unique Sky Bar, where one can indulge in the best cocktails and extend summer nights.
This season, as tradition dictates, you can't miss their renowned outdoor cinema cycle. One Sunday a month during June, July, and August, at 10 pm, the terrace will screen great hits. A perfect proposal to enjoy on the beach club's sunbeds while savoring some popcorn paired with a refreshing glass of Moët & Chandon.
