“The Priorat is a stormy, cataclysmic country of impressive geological violence. The geology of the place seems like a drunken stupor, an internal, disorderly and powerful force that rattles the earth, a force of sumptuous colors, of dense exudation, of swollen and agitated swellings, of dust,” this is how Josep Pla described the region in 1971. An abrupt territory full of ravines and steep slopes where, in the 12th century, the Carthusian monks dared to cultivate vines by anchoring their roots in the slate soils of the mountain slopes of Montsant."
And among curves, crop fields, and mountains stands a farmhouse from 1797 that was owned by the Bruno family, who for decades took care of tending the vineyards for the monks in the Torroja del Priorat area in Tarragona. This May, it became a five-star hotel bearing their name.

The building of the Gran Hotel Mas d’en Bruno was refurbished respecting and integrating architectural elements that have survived the test of time, such as the facade with its stone lintel engraved with the construction year, the wooden beams at the entrance, and the spa area, which used to be an old wine press. A renovation that has successfully linked tradition and modernity harmoniously in the same space.
Isolated, without light or noise pollution, the environment is perfect for disconnecting and letting yourself be carried away by the senses. It offers 24 suites, ranging from 120 square meters, plus a 30 square meter private terrace in the Bruno’s Suite, to the 55 square meters of the Junior Suites, decorated in neutral colors where natural wood, red marble, and white stone predominate, colors without great contrasts to facilitate a peaceful sleep between powerful stone walls.
It is easy to relax in the infinity pool surrounded by private cabins and hammocks with views of the vineyards, just as in the private spa you can enjoy a heated pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam bath, and hot and cold water jets. Customized treatments are carried out with Natura Bissé products, allowing you to pamper yourself to the fullest. There is also a boutique shop offering exclusive items, crafts, and local gastronomy products, as well as a library where you can spend long and relaxed moments.
The gastronomy is another of the attractions of the hotel. Two restaurants and three bars invite you to enjoy a cuisine connected to the land, created by the chef from Tarragona, Josep Queralt, especially for Mas d’en Bruno. In reality, there is only one restaurant, which transforms according to the time of day. It is Tarraco at noon, ideal for tasting Italo-Mediterranean proposals, and Vinum at night, with tasting menus prepared by the chef and paired with an extensive wine list.
The Wine Bar, one of the most private spaces, allows you to savor the best wines from the land and the world, and is the ideal place to learn about the Designation of Origin with a tasting or a masterclass. In Bruno's Bar, signature cocktails are served, and in the Bistro, located on the terrace overlooking the pool and vineyards, a selection of tapas and Mediterranean dishes made from fresh and local products is offered.
The experience goes beyond the hotel walls. There are various options ranging from electric bike routes to yoga sessions, olive oil or wine tastings, a picnic among vineyards, and stargazing with an expert who unravels the secrets of the Milky Way.
