Vita Sackville West
Victoria Mary Sackville-West, más conocida comoVita, nació en Kent, Gran Bretaña, en 1892. Su padre era el tercer barón Sackville y su madre, la hija ilegítima de Lionel y Pepita. Formó parte junto a su marido, el diplomático y editor Harold Nicolson, del conocido grupo Bloomsbury de intelectuales y artistas. Gracias a su íntima amistad con Virginia Woolf es considerada hoy la inspiración de la célebre novela de ésta, Orlando. Vita, que murió de cáncer en 1962 en su residencia de Singhurst, desarrolló su actividad creativa como novelista, poeta, cuentista, biógrafa, viajera, historiadora y diseñadora de jardines. Publicó su primera novela, The Heritage, a la edad de veintiséis años. Algunas de sus obras más conocidas son : The Edwardians, All Passion Spent, Family History y Seducers in Ecuador. De su poesía cabe destacar The Land, que obtuvo el Hawthornden Prize y The Garden, que consiguió el Heinemann Prize.
