A free Ghostwire: Tokyo prelude game is available right now

Ghostwire: Tokyo — Prelude, The Corrupted Casefile, a prequel to the upcoming action-adventure game Ghostwire: Tokyo, is releasing today. It comes for free to PlayStation exclusively today, and to Steam and the Epic Games Store on March 8.

Ghostwire: Tokyo — Prelude The Corrupted Casefile takes place before the upcoming action game and sets the stage for the supernatural crisis faced in the main game. Unlike its open-world action-adventure counterpart, Prelude is a visual novel, meaning it’s a text-based interactive story, similar to series like Ace Attorney or Danganronpa.

The main game, Ghostwire: Tokyo, puts players into a world plagued by evil ghosts and spirits that must be combatted using special psychic and paranormal abilities. Nearly all of Tokyo’s citizens mysteriously vanish and spirits invade. The protagonist of the game, Akito, is possessed by a spirit detective who teams up with him and grants him supernatural powers to take on the hordes of spirits.

From what was shown in the trailer, it can be assumed that the prequel visual novel will focus on the spirit detective, KK, and detail the journey that transformed him into the spirit that possesses Akito in the full release game. Players may also presume that Prelude will be just as weird and trippy as what we’ve been shown of its counterpart.

You can download Ghostwire: Tokyo – Prelude for free right now on PlayStation 4 and 5, and on Steam and the Epic Games Store on March 8. Ghostwire: Tokyo is set to be released worldwide on March 25 for PlayStation 5 and PC.

Capcom has heavily discounted Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen across all of the platforms it's available on ahead of the launch of Dragon's Dogma 2.

This is happening as part of a wider Capcom Publisher Sale taking place across major platforms. While titles like Street Fighter 6 are also discounted, picking up Dragon Dogma: Dark Arisen right now makes the most sense, as its sequel is right on the horizon. Dragon's Dogma is a fantastic RPG with exhilarating combat and unique ideas like its pawn system that lets you venture out with characters that your friends created. Dragon's Dogma 2 seems like it will only expand on these ideas, so it would be wise to familiarize yourself with the foundation it's building on is.

Silent Hill 2 still doesn’t have a release date, but you can play a free spinoff game now

We got a new trailer for Bloober Team's long-awaited Silent Hill 2 remake during today's PlayStation State of Play stream, which highlighted the horror game's reworked combat. While it still doesn't have a release date, publisher Konami did reveal an entirely new spinoff, Silent Hill: The Short Message, which is available now.

The announcement trailer for the entirely new Silent Hill game, which is officially available and free of play on the PlayStation 5 as of this exact moment, depicts the series' notoriously creepy visuals and a storyline involving a woman named Maya contacting the protagonist, Anita, on a smartphone as the player is drawn deeper into The Short Message's dreary, graffiti-covered, and extremely haunted apartment complex.

Counter-Strike 2 is now available on Steam for free after surprise launch

With little more than a slight tease beforehand, Valve just launched Counter-Strike 2 on Steam.

Counter-Strike is Valve's long-running competitive multiplayer shooter series. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has stayed near the top of Steam's player count charts ever since it launched in 2012. After over a decade of dominance, Valve first announced Counter-Strike 2 as a free, sequel-level upgrade to Global Offensive earlier this year. After some slight teases earlier in the month, Valve finally decided to surprise launch the game on September 27.
Counter-Strike 2 builds upon Global Offensive in Valve's newer Source 2 game engine. Outside of the obvious visual upgrades that change brings, Counter-Strike 2 adds to its predecessor with a new CS Rating system, overhauled maps, and tweaks to core mechanics like smoke grenades and the tick rate at which the first-person shooter operates. Valve also promises that the game features "upgraded Community Workshop tools," so we should get some entertaining Counter-Strike 2 mods.

Valve intends for players to smoothly transition from Global Offensive to Counter-Strike 2 as the game has simply updated to make the transition, and all items players obtained in the former work in the latter. Hopefully, this approach works out better for Valve than it did for Blizzard with Overwatch 2 last year.
Counter-Strike 2 is available now on PC via Steam. It's a free-to-play game, although players can buy a Prime Status Upgrade for $15 that grants buyers the titular moniker. Having Prime Status grants exclusive items, item drops, and weapon cases and makes the game more likely to matchmake you with other Prime Status Counter-Strike 2 players.
